The Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Washington Spirit working as a Data Analyst. This is an excellent role for someone who is innovative, proactive, and hardworking to play a fundamental role in the creation, execution and maintenance of various data workflows that can be applied to three key pillars: Team & Player Analysis, Opposition Analysis, and Recruitment Analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Liaise with the Lead Technical Analyst to provide data insights with video context for delivery to the coaching staff and players.
· Perform data analysis tasks proactively and reactively to support and/or challenge the ideas of the coaching staff.
· Oversee the maintenance of databases.
· Create and utilize data visualization in the form of reports, dashboards, and presentations.
· Assist in the alignment of the Washington Spirit game model and data-driven processes within the realms of Team & Player Analysis, Opposition Analysis, and Recruitment Analysis.
· Collaborate with coaching staff to identify areas of improvement for team and player improvement.
· Conduct in-depth opposition analysis to inform pre-match preparation and enhance match strategies.
· Utilize advanced statistical models to identify and evaluate talent and support recruitment decision making.
· Utilizing data driven insights to develop a deeper understanding of the landscape and implications on coaching.
· Continued development and research to stay on the forefront of the analytical space.
You will possess:
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science/economics/mathematics or related discipline.
● High Level Proficiency in Tableau.
● High Level Proficiency in programming language such as R/Shiny, Python, SQL.
● Experience working with the Hudl Suite: Wyscout, Sportscode etc.
● Working knowledge of databases, SQL ad database design.
● Knowledge of soccer data products such as Statsbomb and Skill Corner.
● Experience working with a cloud-based solutions platform (Snowflake & Talend preferred).
● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
● Enthusiastic and energetic team player, with experience of working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary team.
● Good self-awareness, communication and interpersonal skills.
● Possess a strong work ethic and friendly demeanor.
● Ability to work non-traditional hours, including scheduled games that can/will be weekends, evenings and perhaps Holidays.
