Academy Analyst

​We are looking for someone to join our Academy Analysis team. Based at our Bearwood Park Training Ground, RG41 5DB, you will be responsible for assisting in the provision of U9 – U16s performance analysis and offering additional support within the wider academy environment to promote the development of well – rounded individuals. You will also be responsible for conducting in-depth analysis and deliver feedback and support to players, coaches, and the wider multidisciplinary staff. Reporting to the Head of Academy Operations, you will work 37.5 hrs per week on a flexible basis, which will include evening & weekend work

​Key Accountabilities:

To film and capture matches home and away throughout the week primarily for the U15-16s squads, overseeing all squads throughout the academy.
To film and analyse training sessions
To code and edit footage using Hudl Sportscode for teams and individuals
To produce pre- and post-match presentations
To build player profiles using databasing and statistical reporting techniques
To contribute to the development of academy learning resources, including playing philosophy, coaching syllabus, and best practice guides.
To create age and learning style appropriate education content – relating to team, unit, and individuals
To create visuals to display data in an engaging way, suitable to relevant age groups.
To liaise with all relevant staff, where appropriate, to ensure that information, relevant to duties, is communicated effectively.
To adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating to Reading Football Club and its operation
There is an expectation that you will undertake adhoc work on an exceptional basis or provide relevant cover for other team tasks.

Person Specification:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential - BSc in a Sports Science, Sport Studies, Coaching or Performance Analysis.   

Desirable - Msci in a Sports Science, Sport Studies, Coaching or Performance Analysis; Level 2 FA Coaching qualification

EXPERIENCE:

Essential - Experience of working in an elite sporting environment to provide Performance Analysis support and delivery; Experience using performance analysis software including Sportscode, Sportscode Studio, Wyscout, and Hudl. 

Desirable - Experience of flying unmanned aircrafts (drones)

KNOWLEDGE:

Essential - excellent knowledge of Apple iWork and Microsoft Office software packages; knowledge of EPPP. 

Desirable - an understanding of EFL football and the qualities needed

SKILLS:

Essential - Ability to communicate complex data to a variety of audiences; Ability to work to strict deadlines with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn; Strong work ethic and understanding of the demands of the role; Full UK driving license. 

Desirable - ability to implement a variety of feedback techniques into complex sporting environments

ATTITUDE:

Essential - to be flexible and agile always ready to adapt if things don't go to plan; self-motivated
