Middlesex University DIVERSIFYING SPORT PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS SCHOLARSHIP 2023/24

BACKGROUND

There is a clear under-representation of Black, Asian and people with other ethnically diverse backgrounds in full-time Sport Performance Analysis (SPA) positions within professional sport.

This ground-breaking scheme is the first of its kind in Sport and Exercise Sciences, particularly within Sport Performance Analysis. It was established in September 2021 and we are now inviting applications to participate in the 2023/24 Scholarship.

AIM

To address the under-representation of Black, Asian and people with other ethnically diverse backgrounds specifically within SPA.

OUTLINE

This scholarship will include both academic and industry mentorship and upskilling opportunities to up to 10 recipients to improve their chances of gaining employment within SPA and to provide opportunities to progress on to postgraduate research.

• 5x Scholarships MSc in Sport Performance Analysis at Middlesex University, London – StoneX Stadium, London, September 2023 start
• 5x Scholarships MSc in Sport Performance Analysis Online Distance Education – Online based, September 2023 start

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

20% Tuition Fee Scholarships (Sponsored by Middlesex University) for up to 10 students:

1. Worth £2100 for the MSc in Sport Performance Analysis (Online Distance Education) for up to 5 students
2. Worth £1920 for the MSc in Sport Performance Analysis for up to 5 students

INDUSTRY PARTNERS

Middlesex University in partnership with UK Sports Institute, Rugby Football Union, England and Wales Cricket Board, Lawn Tennis Association, The Football Association and Red Zone.

SCHOLARSHIP

In addition to the tuition fee scholarship (worth up to £2,100 for the 2023/24 academic year, sponsored by Middlesex University) the 10 recipients will receive:

1. One-on-one mentorship from Senior Sport Performance Analysts within partner organisations
2. Academic mentorship from senior staff at Middlesex University and/or Alumnus
3. ISPAS Accreditation (worth £40 sponsored by Middlesex University)
4. Industry Standard Software and Training on Dartfish (sponsored by Dartfish), SBG Focus (Sponsored by SBG, a Catapult company) and Angles by Fulcrum Technology (sponsored by Fulcrum Technology)

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must meet the following:

1. Belong to the target group of this positive action scheme (Black, Asian and people with other ethnically diverse backgrounds)
2. Be eligible for UK Home Fees (British Citizen or EU Settled Status)
3. Apply for and fulfil minimum entry requirements for either the MSc in Sport Performance Analysis at Middlesex University (on-campus, Full-time, September 2023 start) or MSc in Sport Performance Analysis Online Distance Education (online, Full-time, September 2023 start)
