Derby County Performance Analysis Placements & MSc Applied Sport Performance Analysis

Loughborough University and ­­­­­­­Derby County Football Club are committed to the development of aspiring coaches and practitioners into elite sport. We currently have four exciting opportunities for aspiring performance analysts to develop their expertise via a combination of high-quality teaching on our MSc Applied Sport Performance Analysis course, and through applied experience with Derby County FC.

Students on our new MSc course accumulate over 450 hours of experience in applied practice. The candidates will be supported with a £5000 stipend and have an opportunity to further their development with mentorship and support from our elite coaches, support staff and a dedicated placement tutor. During the placement, there is an opportunity to build a portfolio of practical expertise while learning how to operate in a modern interdisciplinary team, enhancing your employability within the performance analysis field.

What would I be doing?

· Provide ­­­25 hours of performance analysis support each week, evening and weekend work may be required and the working schedule may vary week to week around match and training programmes.

· Support the capture and analysis of all academy matches and training in line with team-specific performance analysis templates.

· Have an active role in the creation and delivery of day release analysis sessions working closely with coaching staff.

· Communicate performance analysis insights with coaches, performance analysis staff and the wider support staff to develop performance.

· Help in the collection, storage and analysis of key performance data. Implement effective processes to analyse data at key stages throughout the season.

· As and when requested deliver coach-led projects around key areas of play, goalkeeping, and coach education.

· Be an active member of the coaching team supporting how information is translated and contribute to the overall learning environment.

· Complete a novel research project and share the findings with the club upon the completion of your placement.

What is Loughborough University and Derby County looking for?

· Relevant experience within performance analysis (desirable not essential).

· Highly numerate with strong technical and IT skills.

· Experience in the use of performance analysis software(s) and related video production and analysis tools to feedback actionable insights (desirable not essential).

· Understanding of the coaching process and how analysis can influence this.

· Energy and enthusiasm. Someone who enjoys interacting with different groups of people and enjoys the challenge the role brings and is committed to achieving personal and team objectives

· A pro-active individual – understands the needs of the team to be successful and is forthcoming with ideas and assistance.

· Highly organised, with the ability to work under pressure and deal with multiple tasks

· Eager to develop and progress both technically and in the softer skills of being an analyst.

· Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be available to provide support during evenings and weekends.
