Derby County Recruitment Analysis Placements & MSc Applied Sport Performance Analysis

Loughborough University and ­­­­­­­Derby County Football Club are committed to the development of aspiring coaches and practitioners into elite sport. We currently have two exciting opportunities for aspiring recruitment analysts to develop their expertise via a combination of high-quality teaching on our MSc Applied Sport Performance Analysis course, and through applied experience with Derby County FC.

Students on our new MSc course accumulate over 450 hours of experience in applied practice. The candidates will be supported with a £5,000 stipend and have an opportunity to further their development with mentorship and support from our elite coaches, support staff and a dedicated placement tutor. During the placement there is an opportunity to build a portfolio of practical expertise within both a 1st team and an academy setting, enhancing your employability within the performance and recruitment analysis fields.

What would I be doing?

· Provide ­­­25 hours of recruitment analysis support each week, evening and weekend work may be required and the working schedule may vary week to week.

· Support the Academy Technical Scout and 1st Team Lead Recruitment Analyst on analytic based tasks.

· Produce individual player profiles using relevant data and video footage on potential acquisitions.

· Maintain the clubs Recruitment Databases and assist in the creation of the club’s recruitment app.

· Use software packages to deliver individual player footage packages.

· Help in the collection, storage and analysis of key performance data. Implement effective processes to analyse data at key stages throughout the season.

· Watch both live and video games, before providing post-match player scout reports.

· Be an active member of DCFC’s recruitment team and assist in the departments move to use innovative methods to become more efficient in the player recruitment process.

· Complete novel research projects and share the findings with the club upon the completion of your placement.

What are Loughborough University and Derby County looking for?

· Relevant experience within performance analysis (desirable not essential).

· Highly numerate with strong technical and IT skills.

· Experience in the use of performance analysis software(s) and related video production and analysis tools to feedback actionable insights (desirable not essential).

· Understanding of the coaching process and how analysis can influence this.

· Energy and enthusiasm. Someone who enjoys interacting with different groups of people and enjoys the challenge the role brings and is committed to achieving personal and team objectives

· A pro-active individual – understands the needs of the team to be successful and is forthcoming with ideas and assistance.

· Highly organised, with the ability to work under pressure and deal with multiple tasks

· Eager to develop and progress both technically and in the softer skills of being an analyst.

· Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be available to provide support during evenings and weekends.

The application process will close at 5pm Friday 25th of May. Interviews will be held during the week commencing Monday 3rd of June and the successful applicants will start in July, however this may be flexible.
