Crystal Palace Football Club is offering three funded MSc placement opportunities within their academy analysis department, alongside the University of Worcester for the 2024/25 season.

 

Working from our academy facility in Beckenham, successful candidates will be immersed in all facets of our analysis syllabus, team & data analysis, goalkeeping, opposition, coaching and training analysis from u9 to u21.

 

A bursary will be provided to support successful students with their studies on the MSc Applied Sports Performance Analysis course at the University of Worcester starting in September 2024. The bursary will be used to cover course tuition fees, accommodation (during intensive weeks), accreditation fees and other expenses related to development as an analyst for the 2024/25 season.

Placement Overview

Our placement students will be required to be available 4 days per week, these may include operating out of office hours as well as weekends and bank holidays.

Based within our Academy training facility in Beckenham, Kent, BR3 1NZ

The placement will start in July 2024 and last until June 2025.

Learning Opportunities

  • Working closely with academy performance analysts, coaches and a variety of multi-disciplinary staff to deliver high level performance analysis support & also develop practical skills & experience.
  • Assisting with analysis support for all academy age groups including, filming, coding, and producing visual feedback for teams, units & individuals in line with the coach and academy syllabus.
  • Maintaining current video & statistical databases with opportunities to build and deliver reports in line with player development.
  • Further build knowledge of analysis software (Sportscode (Studio), Bepro11, Wyscout, Tableau, R).
  • Opportunities to apply theory learnt within the university to practical settings.
  • Variety of CPD events and tasks aimed at personal development weekly throughout the season including, meetings, workshops, projects individual and group, and targeted age group exposure.
  • Undertake equality, diversity & safeguarding awareness training.

Essential requirements

  • 2:1 undergraduate degree in a sports-related course
  • Acceptance onto the University of Worcester MSc Sport (Applied Performance Analysis) course
  • Minimum 1-year prior experience in the provision of performance analysis support
  • An understanding of individual responsibility in complying with Health and Safety policies.
  • Personal commitment to continued professional development.
  • Operate within the rules of professional confidentiality to liaise with staff and players.
  • Understanding of how to work safely with children and/or adults at risk and uphold generally accepted practices when working in those environments.
  • Promote, adhere to and implement the Club’s Equality Policy and work consistently to embed equality and diversity within Club.

Desirable requirements

  • Excellent understanding of football through playing, coaching or analysis experience
  • Good knowledge of Apple software (iMovie, keynote, pages etc.)
  • Excellent attitude to work and learning
