Role Title: Data/Video Analyst
Core Responsibilities
This role will serve as a liaison between the Director of Data & Analytics and the First Team Performance Analyst, specifically focused on developing short-term insights that will drive decision making within the First Team. This role will drive the creation and implementation of elite pre, during and post-game analysis processes to support coach and player feedback process, as well as supporting the needs of front office staff
Data Science, Statistics, and Analysis:
- Collaborate with the Performance Analyst to build pre-match opposition reports.
- Assist in the creation and delivery of live match reports/analysis in line with requirements of coaching staff.
- Collaborate with the Director of Data & Analytics to create post-match and quarterly performance reports as directed by GM to provide ongoing assessment of player/team performance in line with identified playing style.
- Create ad hoc reports and/or tooling that deliver insights to answer questions from stakeholders (coaching staff, GM, etc.) as assigned by the Director of Data & Analytics.
Video and Performance Analysis:
- Collaborate with the Performance Analyst and the Director of Data & Analytics to integrate external data (such as Statsbomb) into Sportscode processes to drive data and video insights within the framework of the game model.
- Assist the Performance Analyst in any necessary data and video capture processes.
- Work with Director of Data & Analytics to implement robust data/video storage platforms in line with other data warehousing structures within the organization.
Other Tasks:
- Support the Director of Data & Analytics in developing analytical frameworks across other key areas of the club, including player scouting and medical and performance, facilitating an integrated and multidisciplinary data approach.
- Collaborate with the Director of Data & Analytics and First Team Performance Analyst to develop and execute the goals of the department.
- Assist Bay FC in becoming the most technologically advanced women’s soccer organization in the world.
- Communicate insights to a variety of stakeholders with varying degrees of statistical knowledge.
Interested candidates will need to supply a work sample (previous report, dashboard, or script) for the technical interview round.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience working with soccer data, specifically event data and preferably tracking data.
- Experience producing actionable data-driven insights and visualizations for end-users.
- Experience accurately and concisely delivering information to stakeholders with varying degrees of statistical knowledge.
- Proficient in sports analysis software such as: Hudl Sportscode, Replay, Studio and Insight.
- Experience of building coding windows and scripting to display statistical outputs, preferred.
- Track-record of producing high-quality outputs in fast-paced environments.
- High level proficiency in coding language (Python, R, or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to write complex SQL queries.
- Experience with cloud-based services (AWS and/or Snowflake are a plus).
- Experience using version control tools like Github.
- Experience developing technical solutions in a collaborative environment.
Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $80,000-90,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.
