21/4/2024 APFA & Modern Soccer Coach – Creating Set-Piece Principles Webinar with Chris McLaughlin
We hosted a unique double header of tactical discussions and coach education. Our first guest was former Italy and Juventus analyst and assistant coach, Antonio Gagliardi. Antonio was on Roberto Mancini’s Euro 2020 winning staff with Italy and discussed match preparation and scouting in tournament competitions, as well as his experiences in data and connecting coaching to analysis. Following the interview with Antonio, we were then joined by Soccer Resilience Founder, Dr. Brad Miller. Brad presented ways and ideas in which coaches could help build resilience with elite level players and teams.
Last Friday we hosted another tactical webinar alongside Modern Soccer Coach with with Set-Piece Analyst at Stirling Albion FC, Chris McLaughlin. Chris shared insights around his processes at the professional level, and also looked to scale back set-piece coaching to give coaches at all levels advice on where to focus on as a starting point. Set-piece coaching can seem like a daunting role for coaches who may not have a full-time specialist in this area, and Chris provided ideas around principles and basics for coaches looking to improve in this area with their teams. He also discussed the benefits of remote set-piece analysis and how this works in terms of communication with players and staff.
