Football and Data

In the latest in our series of ‘Football and Data’ events, we’ll be looking at a variety of topics related to the use of data in Football.

We’ll be looking at the use of Video Analysis and related data with Sam Lloyd from Hudl, and discussing how to ‘Empower the Experts’ with a talk from Brian Prestidge of The Information Lab and formerly Head of Analytical Development at Bolton Wanders FC.

We’ll also be taking a look at some of the key stats from the season just gone, discussing how the media’s approach to football stats has changed over the last few years and hearing from John Burn-Murdoch, an interactive data journalist from the Financial Times and co-founder of their weekly sports statistics series FT Baseline.

Finally, the event will finish with a panel session featuring Opta’s Duncan Alexander who is a key part of Opta’s hugely successful OptaJoe.  The panel will be taking questions on use of football stats in the media, what they think the future holds for this area and data in football in general.
